Lily Allen Cancels Capital Fm's Jingle Bell Ball! 6th December 2009
Lily Allen says she’s been struggling with a miserable throat illness throughout her tour which has forced her to pull out of this weekend’s Capital FM Jingle Bell ball at the 02 Arena.
In a statement on the Capital FM website Lily said:
“I’ve been battling a throat problem on tour for weeks now, but it has finally got the better of me.
“I’ve done my best at not cancelling any shows as I don’t want to disappoint my fans, but on doctors orders I have to totally rest my voice for five days, meaning that I cannot do the Jingle Bell Ball.
“I’m so sorry for all the Capital listeners looking forward to seeing me at the event, but I’m struggling to talk, let alone sing. I really appreciate the support that my fans and Capital have given me, and I hope to see you all very soon.”
Lily Allen got caught up in a bar fight when celebrating her sister’s birthday.
The ‘Fear’ singer was horrified when police were called to Paradise in Kensal Green, north London, after a group of revellers objected to being asked to move to accommodate her, siblings Sarah and Alfie and mother Alison Owen because their table in a private dining room had been double booked.
A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “Lily and her family had all got to Paradise to have a nice meal for Sarah’s birthday but there seemed to have been a mix up with the rooms.
“The group that were in there were apparently quite rowdy and worse for wear.
“Lily and her family were trying to ask them to move but once they saw Lily they got really mouthy. There was some pushing and shoving as they refused to move and someone called police.”
Police confirmed that two men aged 40 and another aged 43 were arrested on suspicion of affray on Sunday (06.12.09), with the older man also held on suspicion of assault.
A spokesperson said: “They had booked to have a meal in the private dining room. There must have been a mix up as there was already a group in there.”
Heat can't get enough of 'It's Not Me It's You' 15th December 2009
Lily is featured in another best-of-the-year countdown, as Heat magazine names 'It's Not Me It's You' as one of their favourite albums of 2009!
The mag notes that they "love the mix of musical styles" and Lily's "fun and relatable lyrics". But not only does Heat crown it one of their favourite albums of the year, they reckon that the record "cements her position as a lyricist for the Heat generation"!
NME has put together a list of the mag's fave tracks from this year, and of course who could think about 2009 without thinking about our Lil'?
'The Fear' is at no. 20 on the prestigious list of the best songs of the year, with NME calling it "her finest record musically" and noting that the track is "catchy, clever and riddled with angst even as it laughs heartily at itself, this is pop reappraised for the modern age"!
Sir Elton John held his annual winter ball this week, this year with the theme of Grey Goose & Cocktails, and our Lil' was there.
The star-filled ball was held at the Grosvenor Hotel in LDN town in help raise money for the Elton John AIDS foundation.
Lily had designed a portable bar for auction in aid of Elton's charity, and her 'crates n' decks' bar sold for a reported whopping 100,000 - well done Lil'!
Lily Allen Cancels Second Performance! 18th December 2009
Lily Allen’s ongoing throat problem has prompted her to axe her second performance this month (December 2009).
The Smile hitmaker cancelled her slot at the Jingle Bell Ball in London on December 5, 2009 after doctors ordered her to rest.
The 24 year old has been battling bouts of both laryngitis and bronchitis for the last two months - and she pulled out of a planned U.K. TV appearance on Monday (December 14, 2009) because of a sore throat.
Allen had been scheduled to sing on the annual BBC Top Of The Pops festive special, but cancelled a few hours before the show, according to Britain’s The Sun.
The star has just a handful of live gigs remaining before March 2010, when she embarks on a planned two-year hiatus from making music.
